Pregnant during a pandemic

Never ever in your life would you have thought to be pregnant during a pandemic. But it’s the reality. Since this is currently the ‘’new normal ’’ we must get used to it and make the best out of it. You might feel worried for your baby and have several of questions in your mind. But don’t worry, in this blog we will answer your questions and clear all your doubts. The most important thing for you to keep in mind is to stay safe and not let Covid-19 impact the joy of your pregnancy.

Am I more vulnerable?

You might think now that I am pregnant, I might me be more vulnerable for the corona virus? Let us set you at rest by telling that you are NOT. Just like non-pregnant woman you are equally at risk if you have pre-existing medial conditions such as diabetes, are overweight or older in age. So, if you are completely healthy, there is no need to take any kind of stress. However, this does not mean that you don’t need to protect yourself. The corona virus impacts your immune system a lot and that is the last thing you want to happen during your pregnancy. So wear that mask, sanitize, keep social distance and test yourself when experiencing symptoms.

Midwife appointments

Having appointments with your midwife will be very different than usual. Most of the meetings will be online or on call to prevent hospital visits. However, there are times that you need to go such as for the ultrasounds. It can happen that you won’t be allowed to bring your partner along with you. It may sound very disappointing as the ultrasound is something that you and your partner both look forward to. Though, if you can afford it there is also a possibility to go to a private clinic where it is allowed to bring your partner. Just to be sure, check with your midwife.

Alternative for baby showers

A baby shower is something that you really await and want to celebrate with your friends and family. In these crucial times it is unfortunately not allowed to be together with many people and hosts parties. But since everything is done virtually these days, why not a baby shower? You can have as many people as you want to attend and still have that feeling of togetherness by playing fun games together.
